ALLOW ME TO

Open the doors of my life,
to my heart,
and to share my thoughts—

without pulling back any punches,
without hiding behind the pages,
but rather,
speaking straight words.

For within these pages
are pieces of me—

pieces born in confinement,
pieces born in solitude,
pieces born from mistakes,                           pieces born from pain                                     pieces born from love,
and pieces born from growth.

As you read my thoughts,
perhaps you will begin to see me.

Perhaps you will begin to feel me.

Perhaps, in some small way,
you will come to know of me.

And I say know of me with humility,
because I am still growing                             still studying                                                   still learning
still becoming.

So, through these books,
I invite you to take a journey with me.

Not simply to read my words,
but to walk through some of the moments that was difficult,                                             that was very painful,                                       and some very joyful,                                       very some spiritual as well.

But all of them belong to me.

Together,

they form pieces of the journey I am on. And perhaps, as you turn each page, you may find a piece of yourself somewhere on a page or pages.

So I invite you

Come walk with me.

Walk through my poetry,

Walk through my artworks,

Walk through my mistakes,

Walk through my discoveries.

And as you read and view,

I hope you will do more than

simply get to know of me. I hope you will come to know me.

And perhaps, when you reach the final page,

you will realize I was never simply offering you only to read my books,

or view some of my artworks.

I am really offering you

a part of me.

And, in doing so.
perhaps I will become

a part of you

Here are my books.

1. CAN ANY GOOD COME FROM PRISON

A brief Bio
of Oliver Johnson and myself—
Our lives at Attica Prison in 1977,
our friendship, our experiences,
and the journey that continued
after we walked beyond those prison walls.

2. PRISON POETRY

Six volumes of poetic thoughts
born during my years of incarceration.

Words that became a voice
when the walls were silent.

When the cell doors was locked.

Thoughts that traveled
where my body could not.

Poetry that allowed me
to go beyond the bars, over the walls.

3. POETIC NAMES

Four volumes exploring the meaning
hidden within names.

Using each letter
as a doorway to extract
meaning, wisdom, character,
and principles relating to the person
behind the name.

Because sometimes,
a name is more than a name.

Sometimes,
it tells a story.

4. SAYINGS

Two volumes of wisdom
gathered from life experiences,
observation, mistakes,
reflection, and lessons learned along the way.

Words to think about.

Words to carry with you.

Words, perhaps,
to live by.

5. MOMENTS IN MY LIFE

Seventy-seven short stories of struggle, survival, and overcoming, revealing the fact that your past does not have to dictate your future.

As you click on "Request Access / Provenance Viewing" , you will also discover four of my paintings from that time period (1977 & 1978 )  Including my Patented inventions, news articles, photographs and two Archival Fine Art Prints titled, "BLACK ROSE" & "THE BLACK WOMAN."
